Designing a Halloween Costume

A friend and I were trying to decide what to be for Halloween. So today, we went to the fabric market to see what we could come up with. There were so many fabrics, so many ideas! What to be, what to be? Perhaps Mario and Luigi?

Me: (points out bright green and red pleather material) Let’s be Mario and Luigi! Eyyy Mariooo…
Jon: That’d be so uncomfortable.
Me: Why?
Jon: Because we’re both sweaty ass mother fuckers!
Me: Oh yeahhhh….

No go on the pleather.

Garfield?

No. A chicken?

No. Hmm…what to do?

Well, by the end of the day, we designed our own costumes with a tailor and I’m very excited to pick it up on Friday.

Here’s to Hairspray

Aveda Pure Abundance Hair Spray, I owe you my soul. I don’t know why it didn’t occur to me until recently that the reason my hair always fell flat by the end of the day was because I didn’t put chemicals in it to keep it up. I mean, duh! The solution to everything seems to be chemicals. More chemicals, more, more, more!

Let’s compare:

Before: Flat, sad, library-like (a.k.a. boring). Very fitting for the setting, of course.

After: HoOoray! Second day and still poofy like a cloud.

The Sartorialist

made a post about stylish Yale students here. Sure, they pulled off looking good, but following is proof that although Brown may not be as “prestigious” as the all-mighty Yale, we make up for it by looking better.

Comments included:

get yourself, and your camera, on amtrak, and head to providence… show us the kids at brown as well as their stylish neighbors at RISD. please?

And another:

Agreed – Providence, with the Brown and RISD kids, is where its at.

And another:

I second the motion that you should hop on the train and come to Brown. With RISD right next door, you have limitless photo ops for fashion-savvy students. We know how to dress over here in Providence…

Oh hey, another:

if you think yalies are well dressed, you most definitely have to get to providence and visit the best dressed ivy, Brown University
